How to Cook on a Budget?
Cooking is not as hard as some may think! All it takes is desire, creativity, and money. You may say to yourself...I agree with everything stated thus far but money isn't easy to come by so how am I going to make a gourmet meal for anyone including myself? Good question. I have an answer! Simply, in these inflationary times especially you should look at your budget and see what you can spend and take notice of which grocery stores you can afford to even make the meal you desire. Many people feel that Walmart works for them by offering supposedly affordable prices but others believe they can just go to their local market and search for the discounted food items along with additional coupons to make their costs more affordable. At the end of the day, "to each their own"...as my father always declare. ;-)
The bottom line:
Buy your groceries on sale; don't always look for the name brand food items regardless of cost (I do this a lot when I shop but that is because I have been conditioned that way but I am learning myself it isn't always equivalent to a better taste or quality.
Cook smarter not harder! Cook meals within your means. Every meal doesn't have to be a gourmet menu as if you are cooking for a corporation or the like. Just make what is needed to fuel your hunger of you and your family.
If your health is not going to be compromised...starches such as potatoes, rice, and pasta noodles go a long way...all you need to add to that is a veggie of your liking and some sort of chicken, fish, or beef if you desire all food groups in your plate.
Whatever you choose to do! Like Nike, just DO it! You will find that cooking for yourself will save you money and it will allow you to cook your meal the way you want! In time you become much more better at shopping for your grocery needs and with practice over time...you will have the confidence you need to say, "you know what, I got this, I CAN cook, and I am GOOD at this!!" ...and Yes, you are! ;-)
